Building Bridges between Generations
Video Transcribed: Do grandparents have visitation rights in the state of Oklahoma? Hi, I’m Tulsa Grandparents Rights Lawyer Brian Glass.
The question I’m often asked is, what can the courts do for me when I’m denied access to my grandchild? I can’t call them, I can’t see them, visitation has stopped abruptly and I need to know what I can do. Well, under Title 43, Section 109.4, the state of Oklahoma does grant relief to grandparents in certain instances.
You do have to prove a certain number of things to the court in your petition. The big three of these are that there is an existing relationship with the minor child, there’s been a disruption in the nuclear family, and of course, it is in the best interest of the child to have a relationship with this grandparent.
If you have any questions related to grandparents’ rights or you’re a grandparent that is seeking visitation with your grandchild, you can find me, an Oklahoma grandparents’ visitation rights attorney, at grandparents.attorney and we fight for grandparents’ rights.
