Unconditional Love for a Child Is Important
Video Transcribed: Reason one your grandchild needs you in their life. Hi, I’m Tulsa Grandparents Rights Attorney, Justin Mosteller, And today is part one of a five-part series about why a child needs their grandparents.
Today, we’re talking about unconditional love and these aren’t really legal issues. Although they do come to play in a grandparents’ rights case, unconditional love for a child is incredibly important.
Children, particularly children who have trauma in their lives, heal better when they are given unconditional love. One judge that I’m particularly fond of once said in a courtroom to me that the more people in a child’s life that loved them the better.
And that’s really the name of the game here. Love is not zero-sum. If mom and dad loved this child unconditionally, it doesn’t mean that that child isn’t going to benefit from having more people in their life that love them that way.
In fact, the more people that love them that way, the better, the more secure that child feels, the safer that child is, and the more people in the child’s life the child can turn to when they’re in trouble. So unconditional love is a very, very important thing that grandparents can provide.
